The Jolly Potters provides an environment where children can be creative and have fun, while parents enjoy high-quality refreshments as they relax and catch up with friends.
Company
Role
As Designer, I produced an engaging brand that could be applied throughout the café.

Branding, Graphic Design, Research
Logo
Challenge
Create a brand that reflected the playful and creative atmosphere of the café.
Solution
The concept was inspired by the owners' nicknames: Shaun Ryan, known as 'Ryano' or 'Rhino,' was represented by the rhinoceros character, while Ian Dumbleton, affectionately called 'Dumbo,' was depicted by the elephant.
The Jolly Potters are a group of friends. They encourage the children to join in with them and declare: “I’m a Jolly Potter!”
Alternative Logo
A more detailed logo was created which was better suited for signage and other applications.
Characters & Wall Art
The characters are a hugely important feature of the branding. They help the children form a connection to the café while also setting the tone for the location.
The various logo formats allowed it to be applied across a range of assets and materials, helping to create awareness and build recognition beyond the café.

Results & Learnings
Unfortunately, because of business reasons, this project did not get past the design phase, but I realised the importance of experimentation and playfulness in my work.
